In the Home

One of the most satisfying parts of the work we do is with parents of young children (prenatal through 6 years). Experience has shown that many perceived obstacles to intentional use of media and limiting marketers’ influence revolve around communications with extended family, blended families, and employed caregivers. We speak of “households” since all of those terms are in redefinition.

The process we offer is based on each unique situation and the backgrounds, assets, and insights of the adults responsible for the children within it.

Some elements of these workshops are:

  • how we spend time
  • gift-giving
  • family storytelling
  • strategies for listening to the needs and wishes of everyone in the household
  • respectful, definitive (and sometimes fun) ways to communicate about media and the childbarbara and barnett kids
